Catherine Glessner is a filmmaker and photographer with a distinct focus on capturing the relationship between people and the outdoors.
Growing up on the coast of Maine, Catherine has learned the importance of being outside and respecting the land around her. This love of nature has inspired her work, which began with still photography and has now evolved into moving picture. She enjoys shooting on 35 mm and Super 8 film as well as digital photography and video.
Catherine is a recent graduate from Boston University, where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Film and Television. Some highlights of her academic career include acting in BU’s Stage Troupe, photographing for Off The Cuff Magazine, a student-run fashion publication, and directing a documentary based on the Maine working waterfront.
Catherine is always ready to embrace her next adventure. She values positivity and has a natural collaborative nature. While working at Channel Nine during her semester abroad in Sydney, Australia, Catherine learned how to be a producer at the Today show. Learning the intricacies of broadcast television was an extremely valuable experience, and it inspired her love for nonfiction stories. While at home, she has spent multiple summers working at Lone Wolf Media, a production company in South Portland, ME. She was able to be an archival production assistant and production assistant for the true crime docuseries, Wild Crime, where she learned how to support the head producer during production. Most recently, Catherine had the opportunity to be a production assistant on PBS’s show, Weekends with Yankee, where she learned the fast-paced nature of developing a television show on the go.
When there isn’t a camera in her hand, you can find Catherine swimming in the ocean, sailing, or dancing to live music.
